Shopping anxiety when selecting your gown can be frustrating to deal with, we think it's important to break down the shopping experience so you know what to expect! For the next few weeks we will feature tips, tricks, and insight to enhance your appointment!
Our first topic?
THE FIT!
Many of our brides come in for their appointment and ask "What would look good on me?" well, it depends on what look you prefer! To break it down further lets talk about silhouettes and what body type they are best for.
The A- Line fit
A-line fit typically has a more fitted top and flows in a fuller skirt to the floor. The a-line gets its name because the fit seems to form a capital A. It is also important to know that modified A-line gowns offer the fit of an A-line with the features of other silhouettes!
This shape is great for any body type, and is the perfect fit for brides looking to disguise their hips, legs, and bum area.
The Ballgown Fit
Ballgown fit is what most brides refer to as the "princess dress". Like the A-line it features a fitted bodice however the difference is the skirt, ballgowns feature a full skirt.
The ballgown is great for any body type and disguises the hip, bum, leg area.
A note to petite brides, consider fuller A-lines before ballgowns, the large skirt can become overwhelming on a small frame.
The Trumpet/Fit and Flare/Mermaid Fit
These gowns are all similar in that they are all curve accentuating, tighter to the body styles. The difference is pretty much just where they flare out. Trumpet tends to flare gradually from mid thy, Mermaid flares suddenly from just below the knee, and fit and flair abruptly begins to flare below the hip.
This style is great for showing off your va-va-voom curves!
The Sheath Fit
Sheath styles are narrow and follow the "flow" of your curves while not being as tight as the Trumpet style. This gown is generally cut on the bias to be more figure flattering.
Sheath is a great dress for those with hour-glass figures!
