#WeddingWednesday Sandie + Robert 7-18-15

Sandie + Robert were married on July 18th, 2015 and what a beautiful day they had! Here is what she had to say about her big day: “We wanted to get married in Detroit.  We looked at many different options that did not fit our vision.  We toured the DNR OAC center before the exhibits set up, but the plans for the DNR OAC were amazing – and it fit our vision. Our wedding was their first wedding; and two days before they opened to the public.  Our guests were able to enjoy the exhibits before and after our ceremony.   I felt great in my wedding gown.  I saw this dress at a bridal show with my fiancé, and was glad to see it at Bombshell Bridal.  Although I tried on many, many dresses – this was my favorite.  The staff was great and the alterations were perfect.   Our reception was so fun!  We celebrated with our friends and family; the DJ wonderfully embraced our music taste; the food was flavorful; the cake was delicious; and the hall...

#WeddingWednesday Shannon + Greg 10-18-14

Shannon and Greg’s wedding looked like so much fun! Shannon added some GREAT advice too! Take notes ladies! Here is what she had to say about her big day: “We had a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Grosse Pointe Academy Chapel.  This church is absolutely breathtaking.  Our wedding party came into ‘A Thousand Years’, the mothers processional was ‘Ave Maria’ and my wonderful father walked me down to ‘Canon in D’. Our priest, Father Jerry was so fun and loving - we received many compliments on the mass being exciting to listen to. “I thought you looked amazing.  I choked up when I saw you” - Greg, the Groom. My dress was AWESOME.  I’ve never felt better in anything in my entire life.  I loved how I looked, I loved how it photographed and all the compliments I received.  I almost settled for something less perfect to save a few bucks but you’ll never have a day like your wedding day - so SPLURGE!   We had our recept...

#WeddingWednesday Amanda + Andrew 9-19-2015

Amanda and Andrew's wedding is too ADORABLE for words! You can see the love between them! <3 *Sigh* Here is what she had to say about her big day: "The morning of my wedding, it was raining. I was so nervous that it was going to continue because our ceremony was outside on the back lawn of the Grosse Pointe War Memorial right on the water. When the coordinator came in she asked if we still planned on getting married outside and I still said yes. We got so lucky because it turned out to be a beautiful day, and through the window I could see butterflies flying around. I was escorted down the aisle by my mom, I was trying so hard the whole time not to cry only because I was so happy to walk down the aisle to my best friend and finally put the ring that I had bought him 3 years earlier on his finger. My husband told me that my dress was not what he was expecting, he thought that I was going to have a big poofy dress, but he told me that he loved my dress ...

10 Tips for Wedding Gown Shopping

You are already gorgeous inside and out, and no dress is going to change that! You are gorgeous with or without that dress, and it’s so important to remember that you are beautiful just as you are! Sorry to go all James Blunt on you, but you needed to hear that. Okay let’s get started! Start Early! We always suggest girls start shopping a year before the wedding and while that might seem bat shit crazy, it really does help for a smoother process. Trust us! Gowns typically take 6-9 months to come in, crazy right? Since we are at the manufacturer's discretion, there are several reasons for delays such as a UPS plane crashing (that actually happened to us), box sent to Amazon (that also actually happened btw), wrong dress sent, manufacturer made the wrong size etc. We have zero control over all the what-if’s and so starting early is always best! We thankfully have never missed a wedding and never had a problem that couldn’t be properly fixed. Your stylist is ...

Top 11 Things I Wish I Knew Before My Wedding Day

1. Make a list of the pictures you want and who you want in them ahead of time. This is something I really wish I would have done. You think me being a photographer I would have been prepared for this! We were so rushed and I thought the photographers would just have some cute shots lined up, but I ended up missing pictures with some of the most important people. Make a list way before the week of the wedding, and make sure you aren’t forgetting anyone/or thing. Really take your time on it, because it is only one day, and everyone around you will be looking fabulous! And it’s totally okay to be super picky about pictures, it is YOUR DAY. 2. HIRE A VIDEOGRAPHER The night is so short and it goes by so fast especially for the bride and groom. You miss so much of what is going on around you! I am so glad we booked a videographer, because I missed Dan’s grandpa dancing, my mother and her friends dancing and during the shoe game I couldn’t see what Dan’s answers were. I am so excite...
