Plus size Bridal Gowns

The girls at Bombshell are always searching and read up on what's happening in the bridal world. It's something we all enjoy doing and it helps us make your "Bombshell Experience" everything it can be!

Our consultant Kirah found an article on TheKnot's blog titled "Gorgeous Plus Size Wedding Gowns".

While the dresses are pretty, it brings up the question, "Why do plus size brides have to wear plus size gowns?"  The dresses in the blog featured the typical "plus size look", a-line, flowy, tent-like coverings that are masked as wedding gowns.

Something that we strive to do at Bombshell is to feature designer, custom, stunning gowns in our store. Instead of carrying plus size lines we carry designer lines in plus sizes. We figure, why cover your body with shape shaming material and hideously unshapely gowns?

Your wedding gown should make you feel beautiful, look amazing, and most of all show off your gorgeous shape!

So all that being said, when you are shopping for your gown remember that you are not limited to plus size lines that market themselves strictly to plus size girls! Look beyond the plus size labes, why restrict yourself?

Instead, seek a dress that you love, not that you like. Your gown should make you feel beautiful, show off your shape and make you feel like a queen!

Bridal Shows

Bridal shows are the best way for you, the busy bride to plan your wedding with ease! Shows are an exciting, fun, festive way to meet different necessary vendors. These vendors are there for you, they are there to talk with you, give you information and help you find what services fit your wedding.  Shows can also be a bit overwhelming, as a salon we see this happen a lot! Don't invite your entire bridal party, save that for other activities, this is a chance for you to really figure out what you need and want to have at your wedding.  Make a list of the products and service you need most, visit them first.  Ask for a map of the show, you can see where specific vendors are placed and it will help you navigate.  Print out your name, wedding date, and contact info on labels, this saves a lot of time for entries at vendor tables.  ...

Emily's #WeddingWednesday

I called the shop and asked about my size, when she said "We have that size", I almost cried" she said. The bride and new mom came to the shop she had little less than a month until her wedding. Emily was so worried about finding a gown for her special day. " We picked out 4 dresses an started trying them on, I wasn't feeling like any of them was "The one". My consultant  wasn't rushful or rude about me not liking them. She then went to the back and brought out a dress in blue that could be ordered in white, I LOVED IT!!!!" The gown Emily chose was ready for her wedding and she looked stunning! " The day of my wedding I felt like a million dollars, everyone loved my dress. When I got to my husband at the alter he was in awe, mouth open and all. After the wedding he told me that I took his breath away, that he fell...

12 Things Brides Forget Before Their Wedding Day

BRING EXTRA SHOES! Those gorgeous heels you bought? Yeah, by the time the reception rolls around your feet will be killing you! Bring an extra pair of flats so you can keep dancing and socializing the night away. You’ll thank me later. Decide what to do with the gifts. This is often forgotten during the wedding planning process, but still pretty important thing to remember! Make sure you assign someone to pack up the gifts and tell them where to take them. Especially if you are leaving on your honeymoon that night! You don’t want to decide what to do with them after you have had a few glasses of champagne. ;) Assign someone responsible to take care of the marriage license! Your officiant will take two copies and one is your souvenir. (Yes, you will sign three of them.) Make sure you don’t ask your cousin who has had 4 possibly 6 drinks that night already. A pretty hanger for your wedding dress. Since your dress will be photographed you want to make s...
