Gwen's #WeddingWednesday

Happy #WeddingWednesday and congratulations to this weeks couple, Gwen and her husband Shaun who were married this past July.  Gwen & Shaun have a pretty awesome story, they shared in with their wedding program. Their story starts with "the day Gwen & Shaun met, they didn't know the fate that had already been decided for them." "Just as Gwen was about to give up on online dating, Shaun dropped her a message. After several messages and texts, over the next week, they met in person on February 18, 2012 at Biggby coffee in Lansing. The conversation flowed like two friends catching up after years apart." Shaun asked Gwen to be his wife July 2013, and the began planning quickly. Gwen had a short window of dates to choose from "without any prior knowledge to the events that happened on this day, she chose July 26. It was the one in the middle of the three weekends available." Again fate was by their side, "on this very day i

#MandaMonday

This week on #MandaMonday Amanda is talking about what happens when the unexpected happens...  Try as we might, there are always things that are out of our control. Although we always do our best, we do sometimes make mistakes. This blog post is going to delve into what happens when things don’t go according to plan, and it’s going to highlight three completely awesome customers in the process. Our second year in business, we had a major crisis with one of our manufacturers (which, by the way, we no longer carry) being late with wedding gown deliveries. Even though our orders were all placed with plenty of time to spare, gowns were constantly arriving later than expected. One poor bride, Julie, had a particularly nerve-wracking experience. We kept checking on the status of her dress, only to find it delayed time and time again. As her wedding day approached, we put together a “Plan B” of having our sample dress cleaned and switching the sash to the proper color to

#MandaMonday

Amanda was reading about appointments when she stumbled on this gem! This weeks #MandaMonday post is about the 5 types of people you shouldn't take wedding gown shopping.  Brides.com recently posted this article, and she thought it was pretty good so this is basically a re-post with her own editorial comments. 5 People You Shouldn't Bring With You To Your Wedding Gown Appointment 1. Your Future Mother-In-Law I’ve actually had lots of brides bring their future mother-in-law to their bridal appointments, and if you’re close to her, by all means, invite her along! However, if you’re not very close and the thought of having her at your appointment makes you anxious, it’s okay to skip the invite. If you really want to include her in some way, bring her along to one of your gown fittings so she can have a “sneak peek” of the dress. This way, she still gets to be part of the process, and you don’t have to worry about not selecting her favorite gown. It’s a win/win! 2. The

What I really think about review sites

In case you're just checking out our blog for the first time, Mondays we feature #MandaMondays. These post come from our owner Amanda and we are starting a series about things we wish our brides knew. This week Amanda is talking about what she REALLY thinks about review sites. What I Really Think About Review Sites I, like most business owners, have a love/hate relationship with review sites. These sites, (YELP!, WeddingWire, The Knot, etc.) are a great way for a bride to find fantastic, reputable vendors in her area. That’s a good thing. They are also a forum for brides to warn future brides about negligent vendors and bad service. This is also a good thing. There is, however, a grey area that nobody likes to talk about- the “I just want to complain about something” review. This third category is especially frustrating for business owners for a few reasons: First, most of the “gripes” in these reviews could have been easily fixed if I had been aware of them. I once go
