Wedding MBA!

Sorry it has been a little quiet on our blog end, we were partying it up in Vegas!

That is a straight up lie, :p we went to a conference called Wedding MBA. MBA stands for Merchants Business Academy. It is a 4 day conference that has speakers from around the world relay information about wedding trends, what is new in the industry, all about social media and more! Our brains might actually explode from all the information we learned.

It is so crucial for us to continue to keep learning in this industry! We keep growing older, but you (our new brides!) for the most part tend to stay around the same age. We need to ensure that we are always on trend and in the midst of what is hot, right now. You don’t want some cut-rate, outdated, out of style stuff happening at your wedding, right? So it’s always a good idea to invest in wedding pros that always keep learning!

This is my favorite time of year, and no, not because I’m basic and love pumpkin spice lattes and yoga pants. :p In our industry it can become very hard (as with any job) to stay motivated, so going to our seminars and conferences helps keep us fresh! It can get tiresome to be excited all the time about our business, so view the seminars as our coffee, it helps perk us up! It really helps us get excited about the upcoming year, all the new brides we will meet and help find their dream dress!

Wedding MBA covers all kinds of topics, from websites, to SEO, to marketing, to social media, to bridal shows. Even though I use social media everyday I still learned a lot about it. In my eyes, you can never stop learning! Although... I still don’t understand snapchat so if one of you kind ladies can help that would be great! :p

One of the highlights of the conference, was when Sonny Ganguly, CMO of WeddingWire wanted us to tweet him if one of our employees didn’t have smart phone, and low and behold, Michelle doesn’t have one. Sonny promised he would buy the winner of the worst phone ever a brand new smart phone. Michelle didn’t win, there was actually someone who had a WORSE phone than her! Can you believe it?! Check out the phone and picture we sent to Sonny below:

We did learn a lot of new things, and new ways to get our brides excited to work with us, AND we even had time to have a little fun! WeddingWire hosted a party at the MGM Hakkason Nightclub. It was SO MUCH FUN! I have never been to that particular night club so it was an awesome night! WeddingWire actually gave us shirts at the party that said “Shake it Off” which were perfect for the next day, because let me tell you... it was SUPER hard to shake it off from the night before at 6am. I really felt like death when I woke up at 6AM the next day. DEATH. I would definitely recommend that club if you’re ever in Vegas and want to go to an awesome spot!

Me, my husband Dan, Michelle, and Pam went on a little trip to the red rock canyon, W-O-W! It is gorgeous there, and HOTT! I personally love the view of mountains so the view really took my breath away. There can be a bit of a hike if you want to get close to the mountains and that can be hard since it is 100 degrees! #hotAF

We also drove to Hoover Dam, which I know my husband was dying to see. It is very cool, so if you’ve never been there and have time check it out!

We even drove to California just to say we did! Dan and I also took a picture with the “Welcome to California” sign because really we are just two dorks. So please enjoy!

You can bet that we did a TON of shopping, because Vegas is one the best places in the world to shop! Along with their great shopping, Vegas is known for their delicious food. We ate at one of my favorite places, Lawry’s Prime Rib. Talk about DELICIOUS! I love meat though, so if you don’t like meat, Lawry’s isn’t for you. :p They are mostly known for their prime rib, so when you go make sure you get that. Their cream corn is where it’s at, by the way. You also get a TON of food there, see below:

Went to the shopping by the Linq, (ferris wheel that looks kinda like the London Eye, but taller). I’ve actually never been on the Linq, but I have been to the shopping tons of times. OBVI. ;) Here is a ridiculous picture we took by the Linq shopping area (notice the “Shake It Off” t-shirt):

Also, if you have time and it happens to be around your birthday, check out this Mexican restaurant called Lindo Michoacan. They put a sombrero on your head, sing to you in Spanish AND force feed you a HUGE shot of tequila! What more could you ask for on your birthday? Another perk of this particular restaurant has a great view of the Las Vegas strip! View below:

Here is a cute picture of our learning faces. If you’re on Imgur it’s like the cat tax only people tax.

So what did we learn today?
  1. Learning is good!
  2. Choose wedding pros that continue learning new material.
  3. Vegas is fun.
  4. Vegas food is delicious!

Talk soon!

12 Things Brides Forget Before Their Wedding Day

BRING EXTRA SHOES! Those gorgeous heels you bought? Yeah, by the time the reception rolls around your feet will be killing you! Bring an extra pair of flats so you can keep dancing and socializing the night away. You’ll thank me later. Decide what to do with the gifts. This is often forgotten during the wedding planning process, but still pretty important thing to remember! Make sure you assign someone to pack up the gifts and tell them where to take them. Especially if you are leaving on your honeymoon that night! You don’t want to decide what to do with them after you have had a few glasses of champagne. ;) Assign someone responsible to take care of the marriage license! Your officiant will take two copies and one is your souvenir. (Yes, you will sign three of them.) Make sure you don’t ask your cousin who has had 4 possibly 6 drinks that night already. A pretty hanger for your wedding dress. Since your dress will be photographed you want to make s

6 Tips for Stress-Free Bridesmaid Shopping

I have heard so many brides tell me that bridesmaid dress shopping was the most stressful part of her planning, so let me help make your shopping a bit easier with these helpful tips! Gurl I gotchu. Budget: This is one of the most challenging parts for your maids, so make sure you are upfront about your expectations from the very start. Communicate with your girls, ask what they can afford and plan accordingly. If your girls are on a strict budget, START EARLY! Having your girls know the price of the dress a few months before they need to order, will make this purchase MUCH easier on them. Thas way, your girls can budget for the dress and not add on last minute stress! Happy bridesmaids = a happy bride :) Time: As I said above, time is very important, because bridesmaid dresses can take up to 6 months to arrive. Also, don’t forget your girls need to get their alterations as well. No, this is not a perfectly fitted garment, and yes, they will almost certainly need alterati
